Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: Dental radiographs are important tools in the diagnosis of oral diseases. It is aimed to raise awareness about protection from ionizing radiation, as well as to evaluate the students' dental radiation protection and application knowledge.
Course Content: Basic information about dental radiology and radiation protection is given.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) To be able to have information about the developments in the world and in Turkey from the discovery of X-rays to the present day.
2) To have knowledge about the properties of X-rays.
3) Ability to learn basic radiation physics.
4) To have knowledge about radioactivity.
5) To have knowledge about natural and artificial radiation sources.
6) Ability to learn to protect themselves and their patients from harmful effects while working with X-rays.
