Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: This course is a learner-centered, integrated-skills based course that will develop students in the reading and writing skills in an academic context. Tasks involving higherorder thinking skills will require students not only to understand, but also to combine and evaluateinformation, ideas and judgments as well. The variety of texts and perspectives presented throughthemes in and outside the class will facilitate their critical thinking process and thus enable studentsto become active and autonomous learners.
Course Content: This course consists of academic reading and writing skills in English.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) To analyze academic articles
2) To perceive the existing information in the works and the places of use
3) To write a text on an academic paper given to students
4) To interpret the ideas in a given article using the citation technique in the APA format
5) Describe the relationship between form, meaning and the use of different language structures in everyday and academic contexts
