Course Objectives: | In accordance with the philosophy and basic principles of mental health and disease nursing; To improve caregiving skills for the needs of patients/individuals and their families, in the light of conceptual knowledge and nursing approaches for the protection, development and improvement of mental health. |
Course Content: | This lesson; Course Introduction, Establishing the Relationship between Course Learning Outcomes and Program Competencies, Definition of Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing, Its Purpose, Philosophy, Historical Development, Application Standards, Conceptual Foundations of Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing, General Symptoms in Psychiatric Diseases, -Communication Process with an Individual with Mental Problems (Psychiatric Interview) ,Psychiatric Observation, Mental State Examination, Characteristics of the Mental Developmental Period, Risks and Their Relationship with Mental Problems, Anxiety Disorders and Nursing Approaches, Schizophrenia, Other Psychotic Disorders and Nursing Approaches, Midterm Exam, Mood-State Disorders and Nursing Approaches, Patients with Substance Use Disorders Individual and Nursing Approaches Individual with Personality Disorder and Nursing Approaches, Consultation Liaison Psychiatric Nursing Organic Mental (Cognitive) Disorders and Nursing Approaches, Psychiatric Emergencies Crisis, Crisis Intervention, Stress, Psychophysiological Diseases (Eating and Sleeping Disorders) and Nursing Approaches, Treatment Used in Psychiatry Methods, Community Mental Health Services, Legal and Ethical Issues in Psychiatry; Includes topics. |
The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Explains the basic concepts of mental health and diseases. 2) Distinguishes normal and abnormal human behavior patterns and the factors affecting these behaviors. 3) Describes situations where mental health deteriorates. 4) Describes common mental health problems in our country. 5) Discusses the impact of mental problems on the individual, family and society. |
