Course Objectives: | According to the philosophy of the Nursing Department at Istanbul University of Health Sciences and in line with country requirements, to equip students with knowledge, attitudes, and skills related to preventing medical errors and ensuring patient safety. |
Course Content: | Introduction to Patient Safety, Fundamental Concepts, Responsibilities of Nurses in Medication Administration, Blood Transfusion, Communication, Infection Control, and Prevention of Surgical Errors and Reporting. |
The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Analyzes medical errors and their causes. 2) Recognizes the importance of reporting medical errors. 3) Understands the significance of patient safety and a culture of patient safety. 4) Understands the nurse's professional role and responsibilities in ensuring patient safety. 5) Contributes to the development of strategies for ensuring patient safety. 6) Can develop strategies for preventing surgical errors. 7) Can develop strategies based on medication errors and medication safety information. 8) Can develop strategies for preventing errors using the SBAR Technique. 9) Can develop strategies to prevent errors related to blood and blood transfusions. 10) Can implement incident reporting in patient safety. |
