Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: To inform the architect candidates about urban planning, urban problems, legal aspects of the application.
Course Content: City, urbanization, planning concepts, today's urban planning issues, legal side of planning

1) Recognize the interaction between zoning law and architectural urban patterns
2) Evaluate the interaction between zoning law and architectural urban patterns
3) Apply the rules and principles of zoning law to architectural design and implementations

4) Planning Concept and Grading; Interscale Relationship and Data Transfer
5) Spatial Plans, ÇDP, Master Zoning Plan, Implementation Zoning Plan, Density, Construction Coefficients (TAKS, KAKS) and Plan Notes
6) Housing areas within urban function areas, examples from mass housing areas
7) Components of Settlement Texture and Texture Analysis

9) Urban design concepts; urban space, definitions of open space, scale in urban space, perception issues
