Course Objectives: | The aim of this course is to examine evaluation methods, amplification, and programming strategies in detail and to learn problem solving methods in hearing loss patients with tinnitus and hyperacusis. |
Course Content: | 1. Tinnitus: Definition and epidemiology 2. Neurophysiological Model of Tinnitus 3. Audiologic evaluation of patients with tinnitus/hyperacusis 4. First interview (questionnaires, forms, scales) 5. Criteria for selection of patient categories and different treatments 6. Criteria for selection of patient categories and different treatments 2 7. General review 8. Role of the counselor 9. The role of voice therapy 10. Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (Tinnitus Retraining TherapyTRT) 11. Rationale for patient follow-up, evaluation criteria of treatment results 12. Specific issues related to Hyperacusis and Misophonia; recruitment 13. How to select and tune instruments 14. Pros and cons of TRT and adjunctive therapies |
