Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to explain the stages of psychology as it progresses towards becoming a branch of science; It aims to discuss the philosophical effects on psychology, physiological effects, methodological paradigm changes, classical theories and the birth of modern psychological theories in a chronological perspective in the light of the life stories of scientists who pioneered the field of psychology and the basic concepts they introduced.
Course Content: This course deals with the emergeging conditions of psychological theories, the change of methods in psychology, the life stories of scientists and parts of their original works, and their reflections on today's psychology.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Can obtain information about the periodic emerging conditions of theories.
2) Can recognize the life stories of pioneer scientists.
3) As psychology progresses towards becoming a scientific branch, the student can comprehend the philosophical influences and methodological paradigm changes on psychology.
4) Can explain classical theories and their basic concepts.
5) Can explain modern theories and their basic concepts.
