Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to introduce students to theories of personality. At the end of the course, it is aimed that the students will understand and evaluate the factors affecting personality within the personality theories and in this context, have knowledge about the development of psychopathology.
Course Content: The content of this course is CBT, biological trait theory, distinctive feature theory, factor analytics theory, five-factor theory, existential theory, hierarchy of needs theory, client-centered theory, Asian-based approaches and personality assessment tools.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Be able to know what the personality is, how it is formed and the factors affecting it
2) Be able to know how different personality theories explain personality
3) Be able to know how personality theories explain the normal development of personality and psychopathology
4) Can explain the nature and origins of personality based on theories
5) Can understand, interpret, compare and criticize personality theories scientifically
