Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: To ensure that students gain practical experience in the pharmacy profession, to develop the ability to use their theoretical knowledge in practice, and to increase their professional skills by working in a pharmacy or hospital environment.
Course Content: Pharmacy Operations and Drug Management (Types and practices of pharmacy services, Good pharmacy practices, Expiry date tracking)
Prescription Reading, Drug Procurement, and Delivery Processes (Prescription fulfillment, Emergency drug supply processes, Different prescription types and recording systems)
Access to Drug Information, Interpretation, and Communication to the Patient (Rx Media Pharma, Hospital automation systems and reimbursement agencies' systems, Pharmacy communication programs (inventory control, etc.))
Communication with Patients, Healthcare Personnel, Product Representatives, and Other Stakeholders (Patient communication and conveying usage instructions, Prescription preparation and delivery)

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Observes the pharmacy or hospital environment and gains knowledge about the work processes.
2) Recognizes the computer programs used for operations and learns how to use them.
3) Observes, learns, and applies basic behaviors related to prescription fulfillment and healthcare services.
4) Observes the evaluation of prescriptions and assists in the preparation of medications.
5) Understands the communication processes with patients, healthcare personnel, product representatives, and other stakeholders.

11) She/He is administratively and technically equipped in every field where the pharmacy profession is responsible by law, and produces solutions to problems in line with scientific data / evidence.
12) Combines basic and applied sciences with pharmacy profession practices and uses them in the field of pharmacy.
13) Has sufficient knowledge and application skills on physical, chemical, biological and toxicological analyzes of pharmaceutical, biotechnological and radiopharmaceutical products.
14) Acts in accordance with ethical and legal principles in the field of pharmacy.
15) Has the necessary competencies to work with colleagues and other health professionals in terms of communicative, managerial and social skills.
16) Provides consultancy on medicinal plants, herbal supplements and food supplements.
17) Knows pharmaceutical care practices, understands and evaluates drug interactions.
18) Knows the risks associated with the use of drugs and other chemical substances and laboratory practice.
