Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: The objective of this practical class it to teach students safety rules in the laboratory, laboratory standard operation procedures; filtration, crystallization, extraction, distillation and similar techniques used in the organic synthesis; synthesis of active pharmaceutical ingredients using esterification, acylation, nitration, reduction, oxidization, diazotization and similar reactions.
Course Content: The aim of this course is to give information about laboratory safety rules ; laboratory operations ; filtration, crystallisation, extraction, distillation , and the methods for the synthesis of some organic and pharmaceutical active substances; esterification, acylation, nitration, reduction, oxydation, diazotization reactions

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Should be able to have information about ensuring work safety in laboratories where synthesis studies are carried out.
2) Should be able to learn the equipment to be used in the laboratory,
3) Should be able to learn the techniques to be used in the laboratory,
4) Should be able to program and carry out the synthesis and purification of some organic compounds under laboratory conditions.
5) Should be able to program and carry out the synthesis and purification of some active pharmaceutical ingredients under laboratory conditions.
