Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to explain the metabolism of biochemical molecules and to reveal the relationship of the parameters in metabolism with diseases and clinics, as well as to teach the differential diagnosis of diseases and the qualitative and quantitative determination of biochemical parameters.
Course Content: This course include Importance of clinical biochemistry, Water sodium and potassium balance, Globular and fibrous proteins and their relations with diseases, Types of hemoglobin structure and anemia, Carbohydrate metabolism disorders, Lipid metabolism disorders, Cardiovascular diseases, Plasma proteins, Enzyme activities and their importance in diseases, Liver function and disorders, the topics of calcium phosphate and magnesium balance.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) 1. To be able to associate the causes of diseases with clinical diagnosis.
2) 2. Evaluate clinical analysis reports.
3) 3. Should be able to give information about the biochemical mechanism of drugs used in patients and guide patients.
4) 4. To be able to examine the relationship between the functions of biomolecules and metabolic disorders
5) 5. Should be able to identify risk factors for diseases related to metabolic disorders
6) 6. To be able to understand the relationship between the formation of diseases and the metabolism of biochemical molecules
7) 7. Should be able to learn the differential diagnosis of diseases and the determination of biochemical parameters related to diseases.
