Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: This course aims to familiarize students with theory and practice in the field of audiovisual translation. The course will focus on the procedures and constraints involved in subtitling and dubbing.
Course Content: This course consists of visual materials, audio materials, cinema, television, subtitling and dubbing.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Identify the audio-visual text types and their properties
2) Analyze visual art and media products like movies, advertisements, documentaries for translation purposes
3) Produce proper translations of audio-visual texts including different themes and styles
4) Identify the key features of dubbing
5) Identify the distinctive features of subtitling and dubbing
