Course Objectives: | This course aims to introduce translation and interpreting as a profession, to provide a basic framework for translation and interpreting process and to prepare students for the translation courses in the following years. For this general purpose, Turkish and English grammatical structures will be reviewed and the ways of translating them will be discussed. Secondly, the general concepts of translation, such as source language, target language, equivalence, context and discourse will be presented. |
Course Content: | This course consists of discourse, register, context, skopos and commissioning in various text types as well as step by step translation practice on informative and operative texts. |
