Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to introduce students to drug forms such as semi-solid drug forms, skin absorption and suppositories, and to teach sterilization and parenteral drug forms.
Course Content: Within the scope of this course, students learn rheology and interfacial phenomena, gain an idea about semi-solid drug forms, learn about sterilization and contamination, learn about injection preparations from parenteral dosage forms, preparations applied to the eye, ear and nose, validation, GMP and quality. They have knowledge about assurance issues.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Must be able to access, evaluate and apply current scientific knowledge in the field of pharmacy.
2) Must be able to convey information to patients, healthcare personnel and society on all matters related to medicine.
3) Must have advanced knowledge about the therapeutic effects, drug forms, pharmacokinetic properties and stability of active pharmaceutical ingredients.
4) Must be able to recognize, control and standardize the quality assurance issues and processes of all pharmaceutical products.
5) Must be able to use knowledge and equipment regarding the administration and use of medicine to the patient and ensure rational and safe use of medicine.
6) Must have knowledge about the production of natural and synthetic pharmaceutical raw materials and production technologies.
7) Must be able to take part in the development and production of drug biotechnology and new generation pharmaceutical products.
8) Must have knowledge about public health, environmental protection and occupational safety.
9) Must be able to take part in hospital pharmacy services at every stage and ensure patient's medication safety.
10) Must have knowledge about licensing conditions, data protection and patent issues in pharmaceuticals.
11) Must be able to gain administrative and technical equipment in every field that the pharmacy profession is responsible for by law, and be able to produce solutions to problems in line with scientific data/evidence.
12) Must be able to use computer programs and advanced technologies related to the field of pharmacy
13) Must be able to follow and evaluate national and international developments in the field of pharmacy profession.
