Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of the course is to examine the relationship between nutrition and health, to provide knowledge and skills regarding the chemical structure, properties, sources, digestion, absorption and metabolism of fats, carbohydrates and proteins, processing-cooking and storage methods, and the arrangement of some basic and traditional food recipes in accordance with nutritional principles.
Course Content: This course includes unwanted symptoms that occur after food intake, information about allergies, food allergies and allergens, our body's defense mechanism, causes of food sensitivity, types of allergies to some foods and beverages, food dye allergy, prevention of food allergies and information about them.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Ability to define and classify food allergy and sensitivity.
2) Being able to learn the tests used in the diagnosis of food allergy.
3) Ability to scan and evaluate current publications on the subject.
4) Being able to recognize foods that cause food allergies and sensitivities.
5) Being able to learn and apply diets for food allergies and sensitivities.
