Course Objectives: | To teach the fundamentals of organic chemistry, properties of functional groups and, evaluating the main chemical reactions. Main objective is to provide information about general tools used in organic chemistry, reaction systems, separation and purification methods, reaction design, setting up a chemical reaction, running a reaction and obtaining products. |
Course Content: | Introduction to organic chemistry, recognition and naming of functional groups, classification of organic compounds, their properties, preparation and reactions. |
The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Have knowledge about the working rules in the organic chemistry laboratory 2) Have knowledge about the general tools, systems and processes used in the organic chemistry laboratory 3) Have knowledge about the purity of compounds, separation and purification techniques 4) Have knowledge about general organic reaction set ups 5) Ability to build a reaction set up 6) Ability to run a chemical reaction and obtain products by applying appropriate methods 7) Determining limiting reagent in a chemical reaction 8) Determine experimental yield and calculate percent yield |
