Course Objectives: | To understand the importance of materials science in terms of engineering applications, to teach the types, properties and structures of materials and their effects on material performance, to understand the importance of material selection and design using materials science knowledge, to increase interest in innovative materials. |
Course Content: | Introduction to materials science, atomic structure and bond structure in solids, crystal structure in materials, defects in solids, mechanical properties of materials, structures of alloys, composites, ceramics and polymers, properties of nanomaterials and biomaterials |
The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Students will have detailed information about materials and their applications. 2) Students will have knowledge about material selection suitable for business conditions. 3) The student gains the ability to do research, make presentations and write reports by using databases and other sources of information about any material. 4) Students will have theoretical knowledge about useful product research and development. |
