Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: This course provides full examining and understanding for the basic concept of cell biology with the scope of cellular and genetics events from pharmaceutical studies perspective.
Course Content: Students should be able to learn the basis of cell biology and understand the importance of intercellular interactions in the light of genetic science. Students should be able to combine all the knowledge from different lectures in this module as a pharmacist point of view. Moreover, this module provides a foundation knowledge of organismal mechanism and biology for the other pharmaceutical studies with the help of interactive assignments.

Learning Outcomes

1) Should be able to know the origin, diversity, and classification criteria of the living
2) Should be able to learn the basics, structure and functioning of cell biology

5) Should be able to learn Endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi organelles and the relationship between endoplasmic reticulum and nucleus and protein trafficking all together with its outlines x
6) Should be able to know the importance of the intercellular communication from a pharmacist perspective with the important structures that enable intercellular communication
7) Should be able to know the cell cycle, cell divisions in detail and understand the importance of genetic diversity x
8) Should be able to know the factors of cell aging and the types of cell death
9) Should be able to understand cell energy metabolism reactions between various cell types
10) Should be able to understand how cell signalling mechanisms function and intercellular signal transmission is performed between different tissue and cell types
11) Should be able to understand the action mechanisms of specific hormones, the differences between intracellular receptors and cell surface receptors, and understand the importance of these mechanisms in terms of pharmaceutical studies.
12) Should be able to understand DNA replication, steps with its enzymes and its importance. Understand the factors that cause DNA damage and the functioning of certain repair mechanisms
13) Should be able to fully comprehend how information flows from DNA to protein, the steps of gene expression together with the post translational modification processes
14) Should be able to comprehend the epigenetic package and their importance in genotype-phenotype compatible prenatal and postnatal details. Must be able to know the basic mechanisms of cancer biology.
15) Sould be able to understand the important projects carried out recently, comprehend all the transferred information as a whole, and understand what pharmacogenetic studies are and the need for personalized drug production by integrating the transferred genetic and cell biology information.
