Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: Obtaining numerical data (figures) related to a certain subject, summarizing, evaluating, analyzing and interpreting these data for certain purposes
Course Content: 1. Biostatistics introduction, Basic statistical concepts, Values characterizing the population and sample.
2. Calculation of sample statistics
3. Calculation of variance and standard deviation, estimate of population mean
4. Comparison of two groups, checking the significance of the difference between the two mean values
5. Comparison of the two groups, checking the significance of the difference between the two ratios
6. Comparison of more than two groups
7. Calculation and evaluation of analysis of variance
8. Calculation and evaluation of MRF value
9. MIDTERM EXAM
10. Correlation; definition, causes and calculation of the coefficient
11. Regression; Calculation of definition and usage area
12. Chi square test, its application and evaluation,
13. Ratios used in the evaluation of medical tests and the reliability of diagnostic tests

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Must be able to access, evaluate and apply up-to-date scientific knowledge in the field of pharmacy
2) Be able to convey information to patients, healthcare personnel and the public on all issues related to medicines
3) Have advanced knowledge about the therapeutic effects, drug forms, pharmacokinetic properties and stability of active pharmaceutical ingredients
4) Recognize the quality assurance issues and processes of all pharmaceutical products, control and standardization
5) To be able to use the knowledge and equipment related to the administration and use of the drug to the patient, to ensure rational and safe drug use
6) To be able to have knowledge about the production of natural and synthetic drug raw materials and production technologies
7) Take part in the development and production of biotechnological and radiopharmaceutical products
8) To be able to have knowledge about public health, environmental protection and occupational safety
9) Should be able to take part in pharmacy services in the hospital at every stage and ensure the safety of the patient's medication
10) To be able to have knowledge about licensing conditions, data protection and patent issues in pharmaceuticals
11) To be able to gain administrative and technical equipment in all areas where the pharmacy profession is given responsibility by law, to be able to produce solutions to problems in line with scientific data / evidence
12) To be able to use computer programs and advanced technologies related to the field of pharmacy
13) To be able to follow and evaluate national and international developments in the field of pharmacy profession
