Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to inform students about the definitions of life and living things, carbohydrate chemistry and metabolism, lipids, chemistry of proteins and amino acids, coenzymes and vitamins, enzymes, hormones, biological oxidation and oxidative phosphorylation.
Course Content: This course; It includes carbohydrates, lipids, amino acids and proteins, enzymes, nucleoproteins and structures of nucleic acids, water and acid-base balance of the organism, biological buffers, vitamins and hormones.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Be able to access, evaluate and apply up-to-date scientific knowledge in the field of pharmacy;
1) 1. To be able to learn the structures of basic molecules in the human organism and the basic principles of general metabolic processes. 2. To be able to learn laboratory techniques related to biochemistry. 3. To be able to associate the causes of diseases with clinical diagnosis. 4. Evaluate clinical analysis reports. 5. To be able to give information about the biochemical mechanism of drugs used in patients and to be able to direct patients.
2) 1. To be able to learn the structures of basic molecules in the human organism and the basic principles of general metabolic processes. 2. To be able to learn laboratory techniques related to biochemistry. 3. To be able to associate the causes of diseases with clinical diagnosis. 4. Evaluate clinical analysis reports. 5. To be able to give information about the biochemical mechanism of drugs used in patients and to be able to direct patients.
2) Should be able to convey information to patients, health personnel and the society on all matters related to drugs.
3) Should have advanced knowledge about therapeutic effects, drug forms, pharmacokinetic properties and stability of APIs.
4) Recognize, control and standardize quality assurance issues and processes of all pharmaceutical-related products.
5) Must be able to use the information and equipment related to the administration and use of the drug to the patient, and to provide rational and safe drug use.
6) Should be able to have knowledge about the production of natural and synthetic pharmaceutical raw materials and production technologies
7) Must be able to take part in the development and production of biotechnological and radiopharmaceutical products
8) Should have knowledge about public health, environmental protection and occupational safety.
9) Must be able to take part in pharmacy services in the hospital at every stage, ensure the patient's drug safety
10) Should be able to have information about licensing conditions, data protection, patent issues in pharmaceuticals.
11) Should be able to gain administrative and technical equipment in every field that the pharmacy profession is responsible for by law, and should be able to produce solutions to problems in line with scientific data/evidence.
12) Must be able to use computer programs and advanced technologies related to the field of pharmacy
13) Should be able to follow and evaluate national and international developments in the field of pharmacy profession
