Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: This course aims to provide students with basic Spanish language skills that will help them to communicate at A1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Course Content:  This course consists of vocabulary, structure and communicative skills at beginner level, countries, nationalities, jobs, family, feelings, food and drinks, colors, clothes and daily routines.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Gain the basic Spanish language skills (reading, comprehension, speaking, writing)
2) Acquire the necessary basic grammar and vocabulary skills
3) Become acquainted with the Spanish culture and literature

Course Flow Plan

1) Introduction to the course (introducción al curso)
2) Loanwords from Arabic to Spanih (Una breve historia del español o castellano, la influencia del árabe en la idóma), Spanish alphabet (El alfabeto español), numbers from 0 to 10 (Los números dal 0 al 10)
3) Greeting, saying names (Saludar y despedirse), personal pronouns (Los pronombres personales), Spanish pronunciation and sounds (La pronounciación de las sílabas y sonidos en español)
4) Nationalities and countries (Los países y las nacionalidades), jobs (Las profesiones), articles (El artículo determinado) numbers from 0 to 20 (Los números del 0 al 20)
5) The verbs to be, to exist, have and there is/there are (Los verbos: ser /estar/tener/hay), the interrogative and plural (La concordancia fem/mas y sing/plural de los sustantivos y sus adjetivos), numbers from 0 to 60 (Los números dal 0 al 20)
6) Ordinal numbers (Los números ordinales), asking about likes/dislikes (Preguntar sobre los gustos), telling and writing emails (Decir y escribir el correo electrónico)
7) Foods and drinks (La comida y los alimentos), the simple present of regular verbs ar/er/ir (Los verbos regulares e irregulares en español, ar/er/ir ..las reglas de conjugación en presente de indicativo), the verbs to like and to want (el verbo querer), additional jobs and asking about jobs (Más profesiones y preguntar por la prefesión)
8) Dates, years, months (fechas, años, meses), days of the week and seasons (los días del semana, las estaciones), numbers from 60 to 100 (los números dal 60 al 100)
9) Colors, objects and furniture (Los colores y objetos /los muebles), telling places (Decir la ubicación de los objetos), adverbs of place: on, under, near etc. (Los adverbios del lugar: Encima de/debajo de/enfrente de etc…)
10) Height, weight and physical characteristics (Decir y describir las características físicas)
11) Clothing and shopping (la ropa y comprar en tiendas), demonstrative prononuns (los demostrativos)
12) Giving directions, parts of the home (la dirección, La ubicación, La casa y su partes)
13) Travel (Viajar y hacer excursiones), leisure time/free time (El tiempo libre/al aire libre)
14) Revision (repaso general)
