Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: It provides an explanation of the basic elements of the production management unit and the basic decision-making issues. It will also provide an overview of suitable solution methods and introduce the methods and tools used in operations management.

Course Content: It outlines the basic maintenance of production management and emphasizes the integration of production principles with production economies. It addresses the basic goal and focus area of production management and emphasizes the enhancement of long-term and medium-term production. It also identifies the basic decision-making difficulties in both long-term and medium-term planning details.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Appreciate the decision-making difficulties associated with both classical and neo-classical approaches; and understand the range of solution alternatives in production management.
2) Understanding concepts related to production.
3) The role of production within a business, the intricacies of the production system and the concept of the importance of production.
4) Ability to develop a solution to effectively address changes in production systems as they become current.

Course Flow Plan

Week Subject Related Preparation
1) Production concepts the encompass relationships between production economics and production management. This includes the objectives of production management as well as the primary areas of interest and activities involved.
2) Factors affecting production systems; types of production systems; processes involved in the production of goods and services, examples of two different production systems.
3) Production planning involves solving decision-making challenges in three different time frames: long-term, medium-term and short-term. Addressing strategic design issues that are vital to achieving organizational goals.
4) A comprehensive review of various methodologies for the design of production systems, including typological analysis of production systems. Continuous and discrete production systems, as well as flexible and lean production systems. Optimization of efficiency and adaptability in production processes
