Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to examine general demographic concepts and changes in population, discuss the social and economic effects of population, and evaluate the relationship between population and health.
Course Content: In this course, general demographic concepts and changes in population, social and economic effects of population, and the relationship between population and health are discussed. Definition of demography and health, nutritional transition, demographic transition model, demography index, fertility and factors affecting fertility, mortality and factors affecting deaths, marriages and divorces, population density and distribution, population structure and theories, migration, urbanization and health, Turkey's population It includes structure and policies, maternal and child health, population, the relationship between nutrition and health.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) To have knowledge about demographic concepts.
2) To be able to have information about population structure, density, distribution and implemented policies.
3) To have knowledge about family planning, maternal and child health issues.
4) Ability to discuss the characteristics of population structure.
5) Ability to discuss changes in population structure and its social and economic effects.
6) Ability to evaluate the nutritional status of the society.
7) Ability to interpret the relationship between population, nutrition and health.
8) Ability to interpret ecological factors, mortality and morbidity statistics
9) To be able to interpret the factors affecting the improvement of the health structure of the society and to offer suggestions.
