Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: This course aims to enable the recognition of problems in patients with cardiovascular and respiratory problems, assessment of patients with appropriate evaluation methods, cardiac rehabilitation approaches, respiratory physiotherapy approaches, selection of rehabilitation applications, and planning and implementation of appropriate treatment programs for patients.
Course Content: This course covers anatomy and physiology of the respiratory system in children and adults, pathophysiology of respiratory and circulatory system diseases, functional diagnosis of movement disorders caused by heart and respiratory dysfunction, physiotherapy in obstructive and restrictive lung conditions, and physiotherapy techniques used in secretion clearance, including hydration, humidification, mobilization, breathing exercises, postural drainage, and manual techniques.

2) Explaining basic concepts of cardiac rehabilitation
3) Describing the clinical characteristics of cardiovascular and respiratory system diseases
4) Being able to select the correct physiotherapy and rehabilitation approaches for patients with cardiovascular and respiratory problems
5) Being able to implement the correct physiotherapy and rehabilitation approaches for patients with cardiovascular and respiratory problems
6) Being able to use appropriate physiotherapy and rehabilitation assistive devices for patients with cardiovascular and respiratory problems
7) Being able to assess and interpret functional capacity
8) Being able to assess the quality of life in patients with cardiovascular and respiratory problems and create a home program

Course Flow Plan

1) Anatomy and physiology of the respiratory system in children and adults
2) Assessment of pediatric and adult patients with respiratory diseases
3) Physiotherapy techniques to increase lung capacity: Controlled mobilization, positioning, breathing exercises, mechanical assist devices
4) Physiotherapy techniques for secretion clearance: Hydration, humidification, mobilization and breathing exercises, postural drainage, manual techniques
5) Pediatric physiotherapy, chest physiotherapy in children
6) Physiotherapy in obstructive and restrictive lung conditions
7) Physiotherapy after chest surgery
8) Assessment of respiration and hemodynamics
9) Cardiac rehabilitation
10) Rehabilitation after cardiac surgery
11) Physiotherapy in peripheral vascular diseases
12) Functional diagnosis of movement dysfunction due to cardiac and respiratory functional impairment
13) Age-related changes in cardiac and respiratory function and activity program
14) Continuous monitoring of the patient in the intensive care unit, general mobilization
