Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to provide knowledge on specific topics where physiotherapy and rehabilitation practices are conducted.
Course Content: Providing fundamental knowledge on specific topics related to physiotherapy and rehabilitation such as human circulatory and respiratory physiology, endocrine system physiology, synovial fluid physiology, band, tendon capsule physiology, connective tissue physiology.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Explain the physiological properties of cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine systems and special subjects related to the field.
2) Discuss the basic principles and physiological regulation mechanisms of these systems
3) Use the basic knowledge of physiology in their academic studies
4) Implement the professional field in what should be done for healthy living and the repair of defects

Course Flow Plan

1) The emergence and spread of excitation in the heart; ECG, cardiac cycle, heart sounds and pulse
2) Blood pressure;regulation with neural and humoral mechanisms, heart rate variability, venous and lymphatic circulation
3) Physical properties of blood, erythrocytes, leukocyte; functions
4) The anatomy of respiratory organs.Lung volumes and capacities
5) Respiratory mechanics, mechanisms of inspiration and expiration alveolar ventilation
6) Ventilation / perfusion relationships,transport of gases in the blood
7) Regulation of respiration with neural and chemical means
8) Liver functions,basal and total metabolism;Factors affecting the metabolism
9) Physiology of Hormone, hypothalamic-pituitary adrenal system
10) Physiology of Endocrine Pancreas Physiology of Adrenal Cortex and Medullary Hormones, protein and peptide hormones, steroid hormones
11) Neurophysiologic Fundamentalsof pain
12) Connectif tissue physiology
13) Synovial fluid physiology, structure, function and regeneration
