Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: In this course, it is aimed that nursing students gain knowledge and skills about literature search, reading, interpretation, discussion and report writing by using library and internet databases to access scientific information and research resources in nursing.
Course Content: This course introduces the concepts related to literature within the scope of literature review and evaluation for nursing students, science research relationship, scientific research approach, scientific research process, characteristics of scientific article, nursing discipline and research, determining the research topic, the importance of literature review and review, literature definition, literature review, importance, benefits, steps, literature review plan, types of literature, primary, secondary sources, tertiary sources, access to library resources, major databases that can be used in the scientific field, databases related to nursing, journals and databases, accessing information by accessing databases, writing an article report, resource indication.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Define the concepts related to scientific knowledge and research
2) Explain the importance of literature review.
3) List the steps of the scientific research process
4) Knows the types of scientific knowledge
5) Can select keywords for mesh words in literature search
6) Know how to access scientific information through libraries and databases
7) Can use ways of accessing scientific information sources
8) Can write a scientific report on a topic of his/her choice by reviewing the relevant literature
9) Can cite the sources used in writing a scientific report with appropriate methods
10) Evaluate scientific knowledge in nursing in line with literature review skills.
