Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to gain the necessary knowledge and skills related to first aid and emergency nursing.
Course Content: This course includes the main human body system, about the whole body system, about first aid and all hazardous conditions, triage, primary assessment, resuscitation and transportation of the patient.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) To be able to know the main systems in the human body, to be able to apply first aid and emergency care concepts and first aid methods.
2) To be able to explain the rules and methods of patient transportation.
3) Ability to triage.
4) To be able to apply first aid and emergency care nursing interventions on bleeding, shock, cardio pulmonary resuscitation, bone and soft tissue trauma, burns, insect bites, drowning, foreign body swallowing.
5) To be able to know ethical and forensic problems related to emergency care and to take necessary precautions.
6) To be able to make primary diagnosis of common emergency care diseases.
7) To be able to initiate and assist resuscitation.
