Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: According to the philosophy of the Nursing Department at Istanbul University of Health Sciences and in line with country requirements, to educate students to apply appropriate teaching methods and techniques, and enable them to fulfill nursing duties effectively while fostering their understanding of nursing principles.
Course Content: Fundamental Concepts of Education and Teaching, presentation techniques, the nurse's educator role in healthcare services, communication, mentoring, health education, learning theories, in-service training, ethics, adult education, measurement, and evaluation in education.

1) Knows the fundamental concepts related to education.
2) Can examine education as a science and establish and interpret the connection between education and other sciences
3) Understands education as a social institution and its importance in social processes.
4) Knows the basic education trends.
5) Understands and uses the relationship between learning and teaching in human developmental stages.
6) Knows approaches related to learning.
7) Understands the basic elements of education-training activities/process.
8) Understands the principles, goals and objectives of health education and uses them to improve health.
9) Understands individual and social education methods.
10) Understands educational tools and knows how to apply them.
