Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of the course is to help students understand and specialize in the field of Public Health Nursing and to develop students' nursing initiatives and skills in public health fields.
Course Content: Course content: protection and promotion of health, population and health, the concept of public health and its historical development, organization of health services in Turkey, definition, roles and responsibilities of public health nursing, community diagnoses, factors affecting health, health protection and promotion, early diagnosis and screening, social role of the health nurse in school health services, home visits, purpose and importance, health education and consultancy, monitoring of healthy children and adolescents, monitoring of women and pregnant women aged 15-49, accidents and their importance, monitoring of the elderly and chronic diseases, occupational health nursing. It consists of occupational health and safety, infectious disease control and immunization issues.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Knows the basic philosophy of public health nursing.
2) Be aware of the areas in which the public health nurse serves.
3) Understands the responsibility of the public health nurse in environmental health services.
4) Understands the responsibility of the public health nurse in school health services.
5) Understands the responsibility of the public health nurse in health education.
