Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: The purpose of the course is to introduce students to the profession of architecture in their first year of education and explain the importance of design and architectural concepts. The course will cover concepts and examples that direct and raise awareness for design, such as the relationship between user (human) actions and architecture, dimension concept, architectural form, perception of space, experiencing space, and organization of space. Another goal of the course is for students to design and research existing designs during the course. The building knowledge course aims to be a guiding course that forms the basis for design courses and all architecture program courses.
Course Content: Environmental concepts - environmental data - natural, social and artificial environmental components and interactions - impact of environmental data on design - determination of main settlement decisions in the site plan

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Analyzing the environmental components that affect the design and establishing the right relationships.
2) To comprehend the effect of natural environment data on architectural design.
3) To comprehend the effect of the built environment on architectural design at city and building scale.
4) To comprehend the effect of social environment on architectural design.
5) To develop the ability to solve the problems of an architectural design at the urban and building scale
