3) Becomes familiar with the major examples of different genres of literature in each period.
4) Becomes familiar with the important literary figures within the context of their literary production and the period in which they lived.
5) Gains necessary critical faculties, and interpretive skills for understanding the selected works.
6) Gains the ability to recognize the continuity of the literary tradition by making connections between works.
