Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to teach theoretically and practically the stages of diagnosis, treatment, planning and construction of prostheses in total denture patients.
Course Content: The content of this course is examination, prognosis, retention, stability of the prosthesis, anatomy of edentulous residual ridges, classification of edentulism and clinical and laboratory stages of complete dentures in patients.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) To be able to describe the evaluation and examination of tissues in complete edentulous patients.
2) To be able to manage and implement clinical fabrication processes of complete dentures.

Course Flow Plan

1) Introduction to complete dentures. Pre-reading from reference books.
2) The consequences of complete edentulism.
3) Anamnesis and examination in complete edentulous patients.
4) Anatomy of a complete edentulous patient.
5) Use of articulators in complete dentures.
6) Retention and stability in mandible.
7) Retention and stability in maxilla.
8) Centric relation recordings in complete dentures.
9) Anatomical impression.
10) Custom impression tray fabrication.
11) Impression techniques in complete edentulism, fuctional impression.
12) Determination methods of vertical dimension and wax rim try in.
13) Teeth alignment and try-in, evaluation of esthetic and functional parameters.
14) Delivery and maintenance of complete denture.
