Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: This course aims to enhance students' English vocabulary knowledge through Latin, Greek and Anglo-Saxon affixes and stems
and to gain translation-oriented terminology. It is also aimed to boost students' English vocabulary by examining foreign stems
and affixes used in modern English and dwelling on the word classes, their functions and uses, derivation possibilities.
Course Content:  This course consists of text types, language use in various fields and terminology-based studies

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Differentiate the text types used in translation
2) Become familiar with area-specific uses of language such as economics, law, medicine, etc. in the texts
3) Identify jargon and specific uses of language
4) Analyze different text types
