Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: The course focuses on the acquisition of the skills necessary for consecutive interpreting, such as active-attentive listening, efficient word recognition, listening comprehension, focus and concentration, inferencing, note-taking, multi-tasking, written-oral text analysis, mini summaries, hierarchy of ideas, and mind-mapping. The course emphasizes various strategies used in consecutive interpreting, such as paraphrasing, splitting sentences, omitting and generalization along with memory strategies.
Course Content: This course consists of note-taking skills, active listening exercises and consecutive interpreting exercises.

The students who have succeeded in this course;

3) Acquire advanced interpreting skills necessary for consecutive interpreting
4) Develop consecutive interpreting skills including listening actively and producing the message and gist of a speech in the target language
