Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of the course is to teach the applications made at the scene of an accident or illness in order to save the injured or the patient or to prevent the deterioration of the patient's condition until the help of the medical team arrives.
Course Content: General first aid information, evaluation of the patient / injured and the scene, learning basic life signs and providing basic life support, first aid in bleeding and injuries, first aid in burns-freezing and heat strokes, first aid in fractures-dislocations and sprains, first aid in disorders of consciousness, first aid in foreign bodies in the eye-ear and nose, first aid in drowning, first aid in poisoning and animal bites, first aid in patient and injured transport techniques.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) To know the definition of first aid and explain its importance
2) To be able to evaluate the injured and the scene, to take security measures
3) To be able to apply basic first aid support
4) To be able to apply first aid in bleeding and shock
5) To be able to apply first aid in injuries
6) To be able to apply first aid in fractures, dislocations and sprains
7) To be able to apply first aid in case of foreign body in mouth, nose and ear
8) To be able to apply first aid in cases resulting from burning and freezing
9) To be able to apply first aid in disorders of consciousness
10) To be able to apply first aid in poisoning and insect/animal bites
11) To be able to apply first aid in drowning in water
12) To be able to apply patient and injured transportation techniques
13) To be able to apply Rentek maneuver
14) To be able to apply Heimlich maneuver in infants, children and adults

1) Ability to integrate the necessary scientific knowledge and methods in order to make the necessary audiological/vestibular evaluations for patients with hearing and/or vestibular complaints. 1
2) To be able to interpret the basic information of the science of audiology, within the scope of general medical knowledge, to determine and apply the necessary approaches for the patient. 1
3) Ability to apply audiological test methods suitable for the disease. 1
4) To be able to plan the audiology program with the theoretical and applied knowledge learned. 1
5) Ability to work collaboratively with members of the healthcare team and other disciplines. 1
6) To be able to measure the effectiveness, continuity and quality of services related to audiology, as well as to be able to conduct training and practice studies related to the science of audiology. 2
7) To be able to make noise measurements in noisy environments and to be able to take part in the implementation of noise control programs in order to regulate the environmental modifications to be made to reduce the noise level, to determine the individual protectors and to implement them. 2
8) To be able to work on developing, placing and coordinating the necessary hearing screening programs in work, school and community environments in order to protect hearing health and prevent hearing loss. 1
9) Ability to develop professional standards and policies. 1
10) Being able to take part in the Implant Board by advising the patients that he/she deems appropriate in rehabilitation about applications such as Cochlear implant, Middle Ear Implant, bone-implanted hearing aids (BAHA) and Brainstem Implant. 1
