Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: This course aims to analyze and discuss some of the most canonical works of poetry, novel and drama in English Literature. The reading of the texts will be informed by relevant social, historical, and political contexts.
Course Content: This course consists of discussion, lecture and question-answer practice.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Identify the ideas and themes that underlie the selected works of English literature
2) Discuss texts from different genres in the light of relevant literary movements
3) Analyze the ways in which social, cultural, and political issues are reflected in texts
