Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: This course aims to inform students on the language properties of economics and commerce texts and associate those properties with translation regarding cultural differences, content, word selection, textual function, syntactic bundles, and knowledge structures. Translation practices are conducted in the fields of economics, management, banking, commerce, insurance and labour
law.
Course Content: This course consists of the format, style and expression in texts on economics, commerce and banking, sample translations, terminology studies and analysis of the language of economics.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Analyse the texts linguistically and extra-linguistically
2) Recognize the terminology and concepts of texts
3) Carry out language studies for translation purposes
4) Apply the theoretical information of applied linguistics through the translation of texts on economics and commerce
5) Translate texts on economics and commerce in acceptable and functional ways
