Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: Pharmaceutical chemistry aims the development of more effective drug molecules by evaluating the drug-biological system chemical relationship. The objective of this course is to teach the chemical structure of drugs, synthesis methods, analysis, action mechanisms, structure-activity relationship, and metabolism reactions.
Course Content: The aim of this course is to evaluate the structure-activity relationships, chemical structures, synthesis and mechanisms of action of the drugs affecting the central nervous system; general anesthetics, local anesthetics, anxiolytics, tranquilizers, neuroleptics, antidepresants, antiepileptics, analgesics; antihistaminic drugs, drugs affecting the endocrine system ; antidiabetic drugs.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Should be able to define the mechanism of action of central nervous system drugs.
2) Should be able to define the mechanism of action of drugs in terms of drug-receptor relationship
