Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: Teaching the basic concepts of Linear Algebra to Engineering students.
Course Content: Matrix operations and use of Determinants

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Knows some special types of matrices and can perform operations defined on matrices.
2) Solve Linear Systems using Gauss-Jordan reduction method.
3) Finds the transpose, inverse, additive matrix and range of a matrix.
4) It finds the determinant of a square matrix by using row and column operations or by expanding cofactors according to any row (or column).
5) Solve linear systems using Cramer's Rule.
6) It proves algebraic expressions related to the concepts of sum of vectors, multiplication by a scalar, linear independence, subspace, basis and dimension.
7) Calculates the eigenvalues ​​and corresponding eigenvectors of a square matrix.
8) It demonstrates and proves some properties of eigenvalues ​​and eigenvectors.
9) Determines whether a square matrix is ​​diagonalizable or not and converts it to diagonal.
10) Proves statements about Linear Transformations.
