Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: Chip removal methods are the most important methods used in the manufacturing industry. The processes of providing surface quality and shaping by machining will be examined in detail. Machine types used in machining will be examined and information on this subject will be reinforced by sample programming.
Course Content: Principles of machining and classification of processes, factors affecting machining, cutting tool materials, turning, planing, drilling, milling, grinding, broaching, screw cutting and gear wheel manufacturing methods, manufacturing and main machining times in machining.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) To have knowledge about the principles, methods and application areas of machining in manufacturing.
2) To have skills in the selection and application of methods in the manufacturing of machine parts by machining.
3) To gain knowledge-based decision-making skills in machining.
4) To gain the skill of creating a technological plan in the machining of machine parts.
5) Acquiring the skill of calculating the forces, required power and manufacturing time in machining.
