Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: Development of Pharmacy Practices in Ancient Ages, Ottoman Period, Republican Period and After, the concept of deontology
Course Content: To evaluate the events and facts related to the development of the profession and education that will be needed during pharmacy practices, to give deontological and ethical behaviors in relations with colleagues and other healthcare professionals in our country.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) To know the separation of the pharmacy profession from medicine and religion, the history of Anatolian pharmacy and recent history.
2) To know the stages of the pharmacy profession in the world and to be able to evaluate the development of the pharmacy profession from today to the future
3) To know the historical development of the drug and the pharmaceutical industry and to be able to evaluate the future
4) To have knowledge of the concepts of bioethics, ethics, deontology, human and patient rights.
5) To develop the ability to make cultural moral decisions in current professional practices between patients and colleagues
6) To know and comprehend the world and Turkish pharmacy days and their importance.

5) History of drugs and chemicals used as drugs
6) The development of pharmacy education in Turkey and the problems of pharmacy in Turkey today
7) Definition of Pharmaceutical Ethics and Deontology and Development and Purpose of Pharmaceutical Ethics
8) Identification of Human and Patient Rights and Patient Rights in Pharmacy Practice
9) Ethical Principles, Ethical Issues, Ethical Dilemmas in Pharmacy and Ethical Decision Making Process (Case study),
10) Concepts of privacy and collusion
11) Ethical Issues in Over-the-Counter Drugs, OTC Drugs, and Drug Abuse
12) Ethical examination of the physician-pharmacist relationship
13) Evaluation of reproductive health issues in terms of pharmacy ethics (Abortion, contraceptives, etc.)
14) Evaluation of the problems faced by pharmacists in Turkey from past to present
