Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to teach students the rules of safe working in the laboratory.
Course Content: Work safety, suitable laboratory conditions; Safety and health related signs and symbols; Laboratory safety equipment; Safe working with chemicals; Safety data sheets; Waste; First aid in laboratory accidents.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Must have knowledge of the safe laboratory plan,
2) Recognize signs and symbols related to safety and health.
3) Must know the rules to be followed for a safe laboratory
4) Must know personal safety equipment
5) Must know laboratory safety equipment
6) Must have knowledge of the safety data sheet (MSDS)
7) To be able to interpret the safety data sheet
8) To be to classify chemicals according to their hazards
9) Must be able to work safely with chemicals
10) Should have knowledge about transportation and storage of chemicals,
11) Must have knowledge of physical and biological hazards in the labor.
12) Must have knowledge about hazardous wastes and disposal methods
13) Must have knowledge of first aid in laboratory accidents
