The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Evaluate the general health status of individuals in adult and geriatric age groups. Explain the common internal diseases and their causes in adult and geriatric age groups by considering the individual's interaction with the environment. Explain the practices for protecting health in adult and geriatric age groups. Can take medical history from the applicant/patients/patient relatives in the adult and geriatric group by applying effective communication principles. Can perform physical examination of applicants/patients in adult and geriatrics groups.
2) Plan appropriate diagnostic tests and evaluate the diagnostic tests applied to the applicants/patients in the adult and geriatric groups. Make differential diagnoses of internal diseases seen in the adult and geriatric groups with evidence-based medicine practices. Explain the treatment options and follow-up approaches of urgent and non-urgent internal diseases seen in the adult and geriatric groups. Evaluate information and technological developments based on research in the field with a critical and questioning perspective. Fulfill their responsibilities within the framework of professional values, ethical principles, and legal regulations in their professional work.
3) Observe and participate in teamwork with colleagues and other health professionals in disease management processes. Apply hospital infection control measures and measures for patient safety. Recognize the critically ill patient. Evaluate patients with multiple diseases under the supervision of a guide and direct them for treatment. Explain the principles of prescribing, rational drug use approach, and ethical responsibility in prescribing.
4) Explain the differences in the approach to the elderly patient, and make a treatment and care plan with a holistic approach. Explain occupational risk factors and their effects on health, and associate them with work and occupational diseases. Take basic blood and urine samples from the patient admitted in the adult age group.
