Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to evaluate the basic concepts of anthropology through social notions and cultural reflections and to master the theories of cultural anthropology.
Course Content: In this course, the scope, subject, method and basic concepts of anthropology, economic and political systems, culture, personality and gender, kinship, marriage and family, religion and language are discussed. This course includes social sciences and anthropology, the development of physical anthropology, cultural anthropology, the scope and various branches of anthropology, the basic schools in anthropology, the method of anthropology, the cultural foundations of human behavior, social stratification and gender, religion and language, culture and cultural processes, cultural change, globalization. and anthropology, family, kinship and lineage systems, social organization, anthropology of religion, major anthropologists of the world and our country and their fields of study.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) To have knowledge about anthropology's relationship with other disciplines and anthropology's view of human relations.
2) Ability to interact on topics such as personality and gender, marriage, kinship and the relationship of inequality to anthropology
3) To be able to compare the interaction of institutions, symbols, and social structures in society, their changes over time, and their appearances under different forms.
4) To be able to compare the application areas of anthropology and its examples in the world today
5) Ability to develop skills in interpreting the reasons for different behaviors in different communities and the characteristics of different cultures.
