Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: To gain knowledge about wound care in line with current guidelines and the roles and responsibilities of the nurse in this field.
Course Content: This course; Introduction of the course, the course learning outcomes, the establishment of the relationship between program competencies Wound Care Nursing in the world and in Turkey, Structure and Physiology of the Skin, Definition and Classification of Wound, Wound Healing Process, Factors Affecting Wound Healing, General Wound Care Principles, Pressure Wound and Nursing Care, Diabetic Foot and Nursing Care, Venous / Arterial Wounds and Nursing Care, Surgical Wound and Nursing Care, Wound Care Products and Dressings, Wound Care Organizations and new technologies in wound care, Basic information about stoma and nursing care, Case Discussion; includes topics.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Explains the basic concepts related to wound
2) Explains the products used in wound care
3) Defines the role and responsibilities of the nurse in wound care
4) Defines specific wound types
5) Learns basic applications related to stoma care
6) Provides information to the patient and family about stoma care
