Course Objectives: | Aims of the course are; student’s recognition of diseases basically, investigation of the structure and functions of organs and tissues systematically, having information about the structural and functional disorders of different systems of the human body, and developmental mechanisms of important and frequent diseases, and be able to correlate the pathogeneses and therapy methods of these diseases. |
Course Content: | In this course, functional and structural disorders of organs and systems are explained basically, supported by histologic, physiologic and biochemical knowledge. Examples of diseases which has the typical charecteristics of organs or systems are investigated together with their pathogenesis and clinical features, in relation with their therapies. |
The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) To gain knowledge about basic pathology concepts and types of adaptation. 2) To be able to explain the causes of disease (etiology) and the development process and mechanisms of diseases. 3) To understand the importance of fluid-electrolyte balance and acid-base balance in the body. 4) To be able to assimilate information about defense systems; inflammation and immunological reactions. 5) To gain knowledge about cellular proliferation, formation of benign and malignant tumors, biological properties, clinical importance, diagnosis and treatment methods. 6) To acquire the ability to interpret disease findings on case examples in accordance with the information about disease-health concept, etiology and pathogenesis of diseases, cellular adaptation, immunopathology, inflammation and neoplasia. 7) To be able to master the pathology of respiratory, cardiovascular, nervous, endocrine, muscle-bone, excretory, reproductive and hematological system diseases. 8) To have the ability to diagnose and differentiate diseases by knowing the mechanisms of diseases of various systems and based on clinical findings. 9) To acquire the ability to reconcile the pathogenesis of diseases with their clinical symptoms. 10) To acquire the ability to establish the relationship between treatment tools and treatment goals. |
