Course Objectives: | The aim of this course is to equip students with the fundamental principles required for spoken communication. The coursework and assignments focus on developing pronunciation intonation and effective speaking skills required for translation and interpreting. Also, the course aims to develop effective listening and note-taking skills. In this course, students will learn and practice using body language, evaluating audience qualification and overcoming stage fright. |
Course Content: | This course consists of formal and informal speech situations; speech presentation, debates; theory of communication, functions of communication; basics of outlining and organising a speech and talking about timely topics and expressing opinion. |

1) Listen to lectures effectively, take notes and ask for clarification questions 2) Adapt listening strategies for abstract and different types of lectures 3) Attend to speeches with non-standard accents 4) Obtain necessary speaking and listening skills for daily discussions and job interviews 5) Present projects using visual aids |
