Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of the course is to teach the basic concepts of organic chemistry, structure and properties of organic compounds, methods of obtaining and reactions.
Course Content: Introduction to organic chemistry, recognition and nomenclature of functional groups, classification, properties, preparation and reactions of organic compounds, recognition and properties of organic compounds of biochemical importance, basic information about polymer chemistry.

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) To be able to recognise organic compounds and comment on their structures
2) To be able to discuss about various chemical properties of compounds
3) To be able to recognise and name the functional groups of the compound
4) To have knowledge about organic compound groups
5) To have knowledge about the properties and methods of obtaining organic compounds
6) To be able to have knowledge about the reactions that organic compounds can give
7) To be able to recognise organic compounds of biochemical importance and discuss their structures
