Course Purpose and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to ensure that the student acquires academic reading and writing skills that will enable him to be successful in his field. In this context, the objectives of the course are to provide students with academic reading habits and to enable students to read literary and different types of articles and work on academic writing.
Course Content: Examination of literary texts, articles and short articles written in the field of general English in terms of text type, language use, semantics, terminology and critical reading.
Learning and developing paragraph and multi-paragraph writing rules under academic writing skills.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
1) Learns new vocabulary and gains the ability to use them in different contexts.
2) Learns to understand, analyze and discuss the texts.
3) Learns about the main components of an essay such as introduction, development and conclusion.
4) Prepares an outline in line with the essay topic.
5) Learn to write different types of essays.
